THE SHOREGALS ARE YOUR 2023 SOUTHWESTERN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS AND DIVISION 1 SECTIONAL CHAMPS
On October 11, 2023, the Avon Lake Shoregals Soccer Team (13-1-3, 6-0-1 in the SWC) defeated the Avon Eagles (9-6-2, 6-1-0) by a score of 3-2 to claim the Southwestern Conference Crown. The Shoregals shared the SWC title last year we the Eagles, making this a second conference title in a row.
This win continues the Shoregals championship run over the past three years. In 2022 the Shoregals boasted a record of 15-2-3 and were SWC and Division 1 Sectional Champions. In 2021, the Shoregals went 21-1-1 and were Division 1 District Champions and Regional Finalists.
On October 19, 2023, the Avon Lake Shoregals (14-1-3) beat Shaker Heights Red Raiders 4-1 to claim a third straight sectional championship.
The Shoregals will be heading to the district championship on Monday, October 23rd to take on the Amherst Steele Comets. That game will take place at 6pm at Avon Lake Stadium as well.
